We got our first look at Scarlet Nexus yesterday during the Inside Xbox showcase, giving us  Bandai Namco’s new futuristic adventure led by former members of the Tales of Vesperia team. Today, Bandai Namco is sharing more about its goals for Scarlet Nexus and what players can expect from this cross-generation, multiplatform title.

The game tells the story of a hero with psionic powers, Yuito Sumeragi, emphasizing the intersection between technology and these supernatural abilities. The environment is an important part of combat, as players will lift and throw objects to build combos as they assault enemies.

In a press release, Scarlet Nexus producer Keita Iizuka is quoted as saying, “Players can expect visuals and psychic battles with high resolution and frame rate along with fully interactive real-time battles with dynamic animation.”

Stephen Akana, senior brand manager at Bandai Namco, says: “Scarlet Nexus aims to change the way gamers view Japanese RPGs with a powerful futuristic aesthetic as well as a streamlined combat system that balances fast-paced action with strategic planning.”

Though it has the anime-inspired look of the Tales series, Scarlet Nexus could be an exciting departure from the traditional fantasy approach of that franchise. Though Bandai Namco has not yet announced a specific release date, Scarlet Nexus will be available on PS5, Xbox Series X, PS4, Xbox One, and Steam.
